With the Economic Security Study, the digital association Bitkom has been examining the state of the German economy in terms of economic protection every year since 2015. With the study, Bitkom has developed an instrument that provides comprehensive insights into cyber attacks on the German economy. Which companies are affected by espionage, sabotage and data theft? Who are the alleged perpetrators? And what is the extent of the financial damage to the German economy?
The results of the current study 2022 underline that in times of increasing networking of all areas of our lives, the resilience of the German economy against increasing threats from cyber space must be further expanded. It is necessary to establish holistic and sustainable economic protection that not only includes IT-related measures, but also risk-minimising plans in the areas of organisation and personnel. A close and trusting exchange of experience with the security authorities must be maintained at all times.
