Artificial intelligence is rapidly gaining importance in companies, administrations and our daily lives. Very few people are aware that artificial intelligence is used in Internet searches, online shops or language assistants. This success is based on innovations in processor and memory technology, cloud computing, sensors, the Internet of Things and robotics. In spite of all the progress made, we are still at the very beginning when it comes to using AI systems. However, there are already signs of enormous momentum, not only in Germany, but also in other economic regions.
The present concept paper provides a starting point for the necessary discussion of the social, economic and ethical prerequisites for making the AI the new wave of success of digitalisation.
